In my many years of Photography carrying around my camera almost everywhere I went, I’ve tried on a lot of camera bags and backpacks.  The Mindshift Ultralight Dual 36L is definitely my new favorite.  It is an extremely comfortable backpack it’s great for backpacking and travel plus there is a removable camera bag inside so it is like getting two bags in one.

Recently I was lucky enough to go on vacation to Thailand in three weeks.  The Mindshift Ultralight Dual 36L was big enough to hold all my clothes makeup and camera gear that I needed for my entire trip.  The only stuff that didn’t fit was my motorcycling gear that I had in a duffle bag whicht I checked in for my flights.

I was a little worried about the backpack being too big for a carry-on, especially in the small plane from Bangkok to Chiang Mai.  My plan for this was simple.  If they said it was too big, then I would pull out the camera compartment bag and let them check the backpack.  Thankfully, I didn’t have to do that, as I had an inch to spare on each side. 🙂

I was very impressed with how much I could fit into the camera compartment.  I had 2 camera bodies, 5 lenses, a small printer, batteries, memory cards, and my trusty Mindshift Contact Sheet that I use every time i’m Laying on the ground to do macro shots.

The lightweight material that the backpack is made out of is very durable,  I am very rough on my gear and I am not afraid to toss it around with this backpack.  It is very well padded in the camera compartment.  Along with the massive upper compartment, there is a top pocket for accessories and my favorite little hip pocket that fit my cell phone and passport.  If I needed to carry even more gear, then I could add a pouch to the other hip easily.

Although I did not take my laptop on this trip, there is a compartment for a 15″ laptop where I stored my sun hat 🙂

Now that I am back in California, you might see me on the hiking trails with my tired little Chihuahua in my Mindshift Ultralight Backpack.
