The X-T100 introduces several new features to the Fujifilm line-up that make this kit a compelling option to those interested in travel photography, vlogging or trips with friends and family while also being a good all around general purpose tool.

Key specs include:
24.2 megapixel APS-C sensor
0.39-in., Approx. 2,360K-dot OLED color viewfinder
3.0″ 3 Way Tilt LCD Touchscreen Monitor
Intelligent Hybrid AF: TTL contrast AF / TTL phase detection AF
Mechanical and Electronic shutters.
Wireless and Bluetooth connectivity.

The Lens

The new XC15-45mm (23mm to 69mm in 35mm equivalent) lens comes with 3 stops of image stabilization, and utilizes an electric zoom, similar the to 16-50mm from the Sony A6000 series of cameras. This lets the lens be more compact while also allowing for smooth zoom during video recording.

The 3 way tilt screen is a new addition to the Fujifilm family.
It allows articulation up and down just like other Fujifilm cameras, but now also allows it to flip 180 degrees to the side. Making the camera a great option for vloggers or taking selfies and group portraits, with everyone including the photographer in the picture.

The new Fn (function) dial on the top left of the body is also a new concept.

It allows dial control of various functions depending on what mode the camera is in, while also being customizable for dial settings of your choice, such as ISO, shutter speed, etc.

One of the most interesting uses of the new flip functionality, combined with face and eye detection, is the new automatic shutter modes that make taking selfies, group shots etc. extremely easy and hands free.
While in SR+ (Automatic Scene Recognition mode) you can rotate the new Fn dial and select several automatic modes for taking a picture.
For example you can select Group mode with 1 to 4 people. Using face recognition, the camera will then wait until it detects the selected number of people in the scene, start a 2 second timer, and take the picture without you having touch the camera again.
Smile recognition lets you trigger the camera with your face. Simply get in the shot, compose as you’d like and as soon as you smile it initiates autofocus and takes the shot.
Other modes include Buddy mode (similar to group, but for two people closer together), face shutter mode and traditional 2/10 second timer modes.

Imagine as well, being on vacation, handing the camera to a stranger and they don’t have to do anything but aim as the automatic mode takes the picture once you and company are in the frame and ready.

The X-T100 is a great little camera for the price point with some very unique features, Fujifilm‘s great color processing and film simulations as well as their great array of lenses.
We’ve had a lot of fun playing with this camera and I could see adding it to my kit for a simple travel setup or lightweight alternate to my usual setup.

Stop by the store and check it out!
