Baby it’s cold outside! For most of us portrait photographers that means one thing; we’re shifting our shoots indoors. If you’re like me it wont take long before you get tired of doing all your shoots in front of seamless paper. Here’s a quick and easy trick that I use when I want to change things up.

All you’ll need to do is dig out those old unused curtains or drapes out of your closet or head down to Ross or Marshall and pick up some for super cheap. I usually find a pair for $10 – 15. Well this is a blog but rather than taking the time to use a bunch of words to explain what to do with your new found curtains I’ll embrace that old saying that a picture is worth a thousand words.

Voila!

There are a lot of subtle changes to make when your lighting a double layered curtain setup but I’ll save that for another time.

If you want to give this look a shot and don’t have the room or two background stands then I invite you to make good use of the Action Camera studio. We have the space and the two background stands you’ll need and even some curtains. I would suggest you make the shots your own and bring your own curtains.

Cheers.
