Fuji recently released a medium format mirror-less camera, the GFX 50S, into the market and everyone was in awe!
This 51.4 megapixel camera is great for product photographers, wedding photographers, fashion photographers, landscape photographers and pretty much any shooter who wants the extra detail. This ultra light medium format camera has a number of features including face tracking, touch AF, film simulations in camera, amazing battery life and the overall RAW & JPEG quality.
The staff here at Action Camera took the camera into the studio to really dive deep into the camera’s functions and review its performance. Here is what the staff is saying and below are a few of the shots they took.
Chris Wright, Action Camera Sales Associate
“The Fujifilm GFX 50S is a terrific camera. Shooting with medium format at this size, weight and ergonomics was an amazing experience. The menus and controls are straight off of the smaller X series cameras so the learning curve was simple.
The detail and depth of field you get from medium format was noticeable right away.
Contrast detect auto-focus worked surprisingly fast, much faster than I was anticipating and was always accurate (another benefit of shooting without a mirror).”

Britney Sweis, Action Camera Sales Associate
“I am amazed by the detail in the GFX 50S is capable of. It is a wonderful studio camera and worked great with the face detection. The only thing I would say is it has a tough time in low light with the face detect. other The dynamic range is incredible and there is so much detail in the shadows when I went back to view the images.”

Pete Perez, Action Camera Manager
“I like it a lot” would be an understatement regarding the Fujifilm GFX 50S. If you want a camera with that old school feel but with all the latest in tech, then this is the camera for you. The dynamic range in the images I recorded are remarkable. With very little in post production, these images are amazing. The next step is to take this baby out for a spin and see how it performs on the road. I am confident that it would produce outstanding images as well.
